Bio
Ashley Hodes, MD, MBA, FACS is general and endocrine surgeon, and a senior medical safety director for the Surgical Operating Unit. Dr. Hodes has wide-reaching responsibilities to the business, which leverage her surgical clinical practice and medical device industry experience—she is responsible for patient safety encompassing all surgical devices in their entire lifecycle. Dr. Hodes partners with internal and external key stakeholders as a subject matter expert, ensuring patients’ safety and supporting major markets and business opportunities with her medical and clinical expertise. Prior to joining the medical safety organization, Dr. Hodes was a medical director with medical affairs in the SI and Gastrointestinal and Hepatology (GIH) businesses since 2017.
Dr. Hodes received her medical degree from Sackler School of Medicine, TAU; MBA from the University of South Florida. She completed general surgery residency at New York Hospital Queens/Cornell, and endocrine surgery fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Hodes is an American Board of Surgery certified general surgeon and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Before joining Medtronic, she was an assistant professor of surgery at the University of South Florida and Moffitt Cancer Center, with a thriving academic surgical practice in general and endocrine surgery. Dr. Hodes was also the director of surgical education for the USF Morsani College of Medicine medical students.
Dr. Hodes resides in Tampa with her family, and spends time outdoors, traveling, and enjoying the arts.
